Job Title:  Sr. Systems Administrator - UNIX

Job Description:
Mirror Image Internet's business is predicated on the ability to serve Internet content, as a Content Data Network “CDN” provider, to customers across diverse vertical market segments worldwide. Critical to serving Internet content to our customers are:
*  Timely build-out of network and server capacity
*  Network, server, and application performance, capability, and reliability
*  Roll-out of new services and upgrades to existing services
*  On-going expansion, maintenance and support of Worldwide Content Access Points “CAP” (Data Centers)

The ideal candidate for the Senior Systems Administrator position must have a strong background in managing UNIX servers in global data center and co-location environments in support of mission critical network systems.  The right individual will have a background in hosting or content delivery networks (CDN) for a Fortune company and possess exceptional skills in managing UNIX servers in multiple data center environments by defining and executing on well constructed operational strategies, processes, and procedures, as well as excellent negotiation, project management and organizational skills. The individual will have experience in designing, implementing, and managing UNIX server infrastructures across dynamically routed Wide Area and Local Area Networks while using and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and environmental documentation. Project management/implementation skills, strong analytical, organizational, communication skills, and detail orientation are essentials. The individual will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment responsible for managing UNIX servers in an operation having multiple data centers. This position will be responsible for systems installations, configurations, monitoring, and maintenance. Servers will support Mirror Image CDN Hosting, other mission critical applications, Oracle databases, and Tomcat/Apache web services.  This person will support the servers and OS, but may also be responsible for application support to troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise; this may also include working closely with the hardware vendors to solve complex problems.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Installation and configuration of UNIX servers in production environments
  2. DNS, SMTP, SSH, NTP, SNMP, NFS administration
  3. 24x7 emergency support - will carry a pager on a rotating basis
  4. Write scripts to monitor and automate processes in supported environments
  5. Provide documentation of issues and supported systems, including procuring and updating Standard Operating Procedures

 Job Qualifications/Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required:
  • 7+ years of UNIX administration experience (Solaris 9+ and/or Linux), specifically managing 100+ servers (primarily Sun V Series and X Series) 
  • 7+ years experience working in a data center (co-location) environment
  • 7+ years experience deploying and supporting servers in a 24x7 production environment
  • Demonstrated technical understanding to troubleshoot and develop solutions to solve complex problems
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills, with the ability to communicate and interact with all project team members
  • Strong knowledge of DNS, SMTP, SSH, NTP, SNMP, NFS, as well as basic network/IP skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage small projects with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to be a self starter and work well within a team environment
  • Experience supporting SAN and/or NAS technologies (EMC Clariion, Sun/Storage Tek, etc.)
  • VMWare experience a plus
  • Certifications are highly preferred
  • BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience preferred
